Cyclone Fani:
Extremely Severe Cyclonic Storm Fani is the strongest tropical cyclone to strike the Indian state of Odisha since Phailin in 2013.
Fani is the second named storm and the first severe cyclonic storm of the 2019 North Indian Ocean cyclone season. Fani originated from a tropical depression that formed west of Sumatra in the Indian Ocean on 26 April.
Cyclone Fani devastated Odisha. It killed 64 people and damaged more than five lakh dwelling units in the state’s coastal districts.
Statue of former PM of India Lal Bahadur Shastri
Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled statue of former PM of India Lal Bahadur Shastri at Varanasi airport.
Some Information Lal Bahadur Shastri:
The prominent leader was born on 2nd October, 1904 Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh.
In 1920s he played crucial role in freedom movement and served as a prominent leader of the Indian National Congress.
In 1930, he participated in the Salt March and went to jail for two years.
He had also served as a Home Minister when he introduced the first committee on Prevention of Corruption.
He raised his voice against dowry system and caste system.
The second Prime Minister of Independent India was Lal Bahadur Shastri. The slogan of “Jai Jawan Jai Kisan” which means “Hail the soldier, Hail the farmer” was introduced by him.
Lal Bahadur Shastri died on 11 January, 1966 due to heart attack. He was awarded the Bharat Ratna, the India’s highest civilian award, posthumously in 1966.
UNESCO World Heritage Site list
The walled city of Jaipur has entered into the UNESCO World Heritage Site list.
Jaipur is well known for its iconic architectural legacy. It has become the second city of the country to enter into the UNESCO World Heritage Site after Ahmedabad.

The fortified city of Jaipur is located in Rajasthan. Sawai Jai Singh II founded Jaipur in 1727. The city has maintained its local commercial, artisanal and cooperative traditions.
Other than Jaipur Myanmar’s Bagan, Megalithic Jar Sites in Xiengkhuang – Plain of Jars in Laos and the Archaeological Ruins of Liangzhu City in China are among the other sites that were included in the World Heritage List.

UNESCOs World Heritage Site
United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization’s (UNESCO) World Heritage Committee voted to list sprawling Mesopotamian metropolis of Babylon as a World Heritage Site. .
The World Heritage Committee met in Baku (capital of Azerbaijan) to consider Babylon.
Some information about Babylon :
It is a massive 10sq-km complex of which just small part of it has been excavated.
It was the Centre of ancient Babylonian empire more than 4,000 years ago. The excavation of the site began in the early 1800s.
It was the largest populated city in the ancient history.
It was internationally known for its hanging gardens, the Ishtar Gate and Tower of Babel.
Clean up the Mount Everest
Nepal conducted a month-long cleaning campaign to clean the trashes in Mount Everest by collecting over 10,000 kg of rubbish from the region.
As per the Nepal’s regulation, the country charges $11,000 as royalty and $710 for a Nepali climber to scale the 8,848-meter-tall mountain.
The Nepal government has laid a provision that if a climber brings back at least 8 kg of garbage then it will refund. It has been claimed that piles of trash are still found in the mountain. If it prevails, it will cause an adverse impact on health and the environment.
